English Methods


The methods that we use in our classrooms usually become on those tools that help us to provide content and variety to, in order to entertain students, and change their view of English.
In some institutions, teaching English had become in a monotonous and boring class, so, for these reason and with the help of the teacher, some students of the English IV course are suggesting some new methods to apply in our classroom.
Each group works with a method and tells us or explain us how to apply it. All this was prove through activities that show us the accuracy of the method and how we future English teachers can plan an innovative, amusing and fresh English class.
Some of these methods are:
·        The silent way: this approach encourage the student to get a meaningful knowledge with the help of the teacher that in this case act in the most minimum aspect, so the student is able to establish a significant learning.
·        The direct method: the strategy use in this method is to gave to the students ideas, comments, opinions, orders, guidelines in the target language, in order to make possible a better communication and understanding of the language, using some tools like: cartoons, stories, songs in the target language, remain them that speak in the mother tongue is not allow.      
   The desuggestopidia method: is center in metacognition and relax of students in order for them to be in an optimum mental state for effortless acquisition of the knowledge. The sounds (music), games, smells, and images had an important role because its purpose is to create an environment where students can use their senses, feelings and emotions and relate those elements with the topic of the class by themselves.
·        Content based: the technique is to use the previous knowledge gave in class and proved this by a group of activities related with the content taught, giving to the student the opportunity to use their memories in short term.
·        The P.P.P approach: in this case the teacher explain a topic and then all in the class work in pares putting in action the approach that is: Presentation (begin to know something in particular about the topic gave by the teacher) Practice (try to explain in their own words a little on the topic) and finally the Production (show how they feel familiarized with the final product of their work).
·   Total physical response: is based on the assumption that the coordination of speech and action will boost language learning.
·        Ascendant up method: consist in put in practice the skills of the student using films and song so they can elaborate essay or composition about the resource used in class, and then they can share their ideas and thoughts with the rest of the group.
·        Communicative language learning: put the language at a deeper level, dialogs, workgroups, meetings and interviews are the activities more employed by the teacher, in this case is more important that the student know how to talk by the communication then by learning the language by grammar.
·        The grammar translation method: this method is the opposite of the direct method, because in it the teacher put aside the target language and work in the whole class with the mother tongue.
